Hillary Clinton Makes A Statement After Loss In Presidential ElectionWelcome to Nasty Women Write, a feminist blog. In light of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s loss in the 2016 presidential election, I decided to coauthor a blog, with my fellow nasty woman Lila, dedicated to empowering women and bringing attention to feminist issues at the state and federal levels of government. We believe that the next four years of a Donald Trump presidency could prove disastrous for women’s rights. He has advocated for eliminating reproductive rights for women1, not to mention he has boasted of committing sexual assault in the infamous Access Hollywood tapes2. We must fight for our rights and forcefully condemn Trump’s chauvinist attitude.

My name is Caroline, and I am a college freshman studying music performance. I have always been fascinated by feminist issues, and believe that change is best effected through nonviolent protest and involvement in the political system. My goal is to educate my readers about what feminism is, how it benefits everyone (including men), and how to become more active in our political system.

Women are still told not to be a “bitch” about asserting ourselves in the workplace. We’re still shamed for deciding to become stay-at-home moms. We’re told that we’re bad mothers because we work full-time and hire babysitters. We’re shamed for having a fulfilling sex life. We’re attacked for voicing our opinions on the Internet. We’re told that we don’t belong in the political sphere. Overqualified women are passed up for jobs in favor of under-qualified men. And when we get angry about these injustices, we’re told that we’re being hysterical.

Lila and I are writing this blog to get angry, to add our voices of dissent to political discourse, and to discuss feminist issues in our country. Change does not occur in complacency, but in activism.

Let’s make Hillary proud. Lean in!

-Caroline
